Fossil Find Pendant

Millions of years ago, creatures like the one in the picture died and settled on the ocean floor. Clay like substances covered these creatures and over the ages, turned hard – into a substance called shale.

The Mowyla series of fossil pendants were collected from Lyme Regis and Charmouth.  These are locations in England where with a permit, you are allowed to search the cliff sides and beaches for fossils.

You pick up a ‘promising’ piece of shale and crack it open.  If you are lucky you will find a fossil embedded in the shale – as in the picture.  Fossils in this region are estimated to be 190 MILLION years old!

The fossils we found are of the Ammonite – a spiral-shelled creature that lived, died and grew extinct in these waters many aeons ago.

We are in the process of turning these fossils into Mowyla pendants, set in copper / silver.

If you'd like us to make something special for you from our fossil collection do let us know!!
